Job Description
Cisco is looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test to join to support test qualification of our Dashboard that supports Cisco Meraki MX and Cisco Catalyst product offerings. As a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test, your responsibility includes designing and building testbeds, creating and executing the integrated/application tests that resemble customer use-case for SD-WAN and Security solutions over physical, cloud, on-prem Cisco Meraki MX and Cisco Catalyst products via Cisco Meraki Dashboard, and contributing to industry-leading technologies in the cloud ecosystem. As a part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with multiple Cisco engineering teams and stakeholders around the globe to develop a fully-furnished test strategy. To be successful in this role, you will need to have motivation , curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and experience with telco technologies and automation as a breath.
In addition to driving test strategy, test planning and performing testing on large-scale networks you will provide technical leadership to entire QA team to drive and implement new ideas to optimize and alleviate the team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the use cases/workflows of the MX solution deployed in the customer environment.
- Participate in requirements/design discussions with Product managers & development team and represent the QA team.
- Design a test strategy document for the Cisco MX features and collaborate with other QA and development teams to cover all aspects of the features being developed.
- Execution of tests and reporting test results, and test metrics pertaining to these tests.
- Develop automation scripts ahead of feature testing to enable CI/CD ( i.e Automation Driven Testing)
- Evaluate and develop simple features when required with Test Driven Development approach
- Evaluate and provide a fix for defects identified during testing
- Invest in AI driven innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to foster the originality of ideas to productize them.
- Analyze the test gaps that resulted in customer issues and incorporate them into the test strategy.
- Proactively, identify gaps in the regression test automation and improve automation coverage.
What You Will Be Bringing
- Bachelor s / Master of Science Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent or a related field, or equivalent experience)
- 12+ years of experience in Testing routing or SD-WAN domain with at least 8+ years of Automation/Development experience.
- In-depth knowledge of SDWAN, Security, Layer-2(VLAN/802.1Q), and Layer-3 (BGP/IP/OSPF/VPN/IPSec/NAT) and are at ease to ramp up quickly on new technologies and concepts.
- Proficiency in writing quality code with one of the programming languages such as C, C++, Ruby, Python, and Golang.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and Gen-AI prompting techniques
- Good understanding of traffic generators such as TRex , Linux Tools, Spirent, IXIA, etc and ability to explore tools and techniques to improvise the testing
- Effective communication skills and proven track record of collaboration with stakeholders.
