Business Unit Overview
The Portfolio Reconciliation and Valuations team sits within the broader MCVO (Margin, Collateral and Valuations Operations) function under Global Markets Operations. The team is responsible for ensuring accurate reconciliation of OTC derivative positions and timely resolution of discrepancies.
This function supports regulatory requirements, including those introduced under the Dodd-Frank framework, and plays a critical role in margin rules compliance. The team also delivers daily client valuations and regulatory reporting while ensuring seamless interaction with clients and third-party reconciliation platforms.
Job Summary
The Manager will lead the Portfolio Reconciliation and Valuations function, overseeing daily operations, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring effective risk management and control. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and deep domain expertise in OTC derivatives, collateral management, and reconciliation processes.
The individual will be responsible for managing client relationships, resolving complex collateral disputes, improving operational efficiency, and leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Portfolio Reconciliation & Valuations team, ensuring high performance and adherence to SLAs
- Oversee daily reconciliation activities, ensuring timely identification and resolution of breaks and discrepancies
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex collateral disputes and valuation differences
- Engage with internal stakeholders (Sales, Trading, Credit, Controllers, Middle Office) and external clients to resolve trade flow and pricing issues
- Drive data-driven analysis to identify key dispute drivers and implement long-term solutions
- Ensure strong risk management practices, including timely escalation and resolution of aged items
- Monitor regulatory compliance, including adherence to margin rules and reconciliation requirements
- Lead automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk
- Identify control gaps and implement robust controls across workflows
- Oversee client reporting, valuations delivery, and third-party platform interactions (e.g., reconciliation vendors)
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and cross-training
- Manage capacity planning, workload distribution, and performance management
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree required (Finance, Commerce, or related field preferred)
- 812 years of experience in Operations, with strong exposure to Portfolio Reconciliation / Collateral / Valuations
- Strong understanding of OTC derivatives and margin processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to manage teams and handle high-pressure environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage escalations and resolve complex issues effectively
- High attention to detail with strong risk and control mindset
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel and MS Office tools
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of OTC and listed derivatives (Options, Swaps, Forwards, Equities, Fixed Income products)
- Understanding of trade lifecycle within investment banking
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., Dodd-Frank, uncleared margin rules)
- Experience with reconciliation platforms such as TriOptima and Acadia
- Hands-on experience with data analytics and automation tools (Alteryx, Tableau, etc.)
- Proven track record in driving transformation and process optimization initiatives
