Job Description
1. Referral Business Development
- Identify and develop relationships with potential referral sources:
- General practitioners, clinics, and nursing homes
- Diagnostic centers and small hospitals
- Corporate medical officers and industrial health units
- Community leaders, NGOs, and emergency support groups.
- Ambulance and emergency services
2. Relationship Management
- Conduct regular field visits to maintain consistent engagement with referral partners.
- Serve as the primary communication link between referral doctors and the hospital.
- Ensure timely updates on OPD schedules, doctor availability, new services, and ambulance facilities.
- Maintain long-term trust through prompt support and issue resolution.
3. Promotion of Hospital & Ambulance Services
- Promote hospital specialties, emergency care, trauma services, and health packages.
- Promote ambulance facilities (ACLS Ambulances), inter-hospital transfers, and corporate emergency support.
- Distribute referral pads, brochures, ambulance stickers, helpline cards, and marketing materials.
- Conduct presentations for clinics, corporate workplaces, educational institutions, and communities.
4. Coordination of Referred Patients
- Facilitate smooth coordination between referral partners and:
- OPD / Registration
- Diagnostics / Labs
- Emergency department
- Admission & Ward teams
- Ensure fast-track or priority services for referred patients.
- Track referral conversion and update partners as required.
5. Ambulance Services Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between referral sources, ambulance dispatch, emergency teams, and call center operations.
- Ensure timely ambulance arrangement for:
- Emergency cases
- Non-emergency transfers
- Inter-hospital / inter-city movement
- Corporate or industrial emergencies
- Provide real-time updates to families and referral doctors during ambulance movement.
- Coordinate with paramedics for smooth patient handover.
6. Ambulance Fleet Management Support
- Ensure ambulance fleet readiness by coordinating with:
- Paramedics
- Drivers
- ER / Operations Team
- Monitor availability, stationing, and deployment of ambulances.
- Ensure ambulances are clean, well-equipped, and maintained as per hospital standards.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and vehicle downtime.
- Report fleet performance to the operations/management team.
7. Reporting, MIS & Data Management
- Maintain referral database, ambulance call logs, and fleet utilization records.
- Analyze trends and suggest strategies to for improvements.
- Track local emergency service providers and their activities.
- Provide feedback to management for service improvements and strategic planning.
8. Customer Service & Issue Resolution
- Ensure referred patients receive timely, smooth, and professional service.
- Address concerns from referral partners, patients, or their families.
- Follow up on high-priority or repeated ambulance users (corporate or community) for feedback.
- Work with operations to resolve service bottlenecks.
9. Network
- Expand the hospitals market presence in assigned territories.
- Identify new growth opportunities for emergency and fleet integration.
10. Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Hospital operations
- Emergency & trauma care teams
- Paramedics and call center staff
- Marketing team
- TPA / Billing desk
- Support internal campaigns, emergency drills, CMEs, and promotional events.
11. Compliance, Safety & Professional Ethics
- Follow all hospital policies, safety procedures, and data confidentiality norms.
- Ensure ethical and transparent referral practices.
- Promote safe ambulance operations and adherence to regulatory standards.
Experience:
- Requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in Healthcare related industry.
- Progressive Healthcare Sales & Marketing experience in a multi-site healthcare organization strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Excellent communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of healthcare marketing and sales practices.
- Ability to plan and execute field activities and campaigns independently.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and digital tools for tracking leads and performance.
- Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours for events and client meetings.
Other:
- Requires the ability to travel in the service area on a regular basis.
- Knowledge of key industry business drivers, emerging medical trends, and performance metrics, and ability to leverage that knowledge to inform strategy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, collaborative, and analytical skills with a customer focus; must be able to foster and maintain sound working relationships.
- Independently motivated and driven to achieve high goals and seek continuous improvement in knowledge and skills.
- Competencies for sales efficiency and effectiveness; discipline in goal setting, prospecting, networking, territory management, and time management. Skills in account management, needs assessment, value propositioning, handling objections and gaining agreement.
- Proficiency in MS Office - Word, Excel, Power Point.
