Job Description
Tech Lead, Full Stack (GraphQL & TypeScript)
Objective:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Tech Lead to guide the technical execution of
one of our core delivery teams. As the team's primary technical leader, you will be the quality
gateway for all code and delivery, responsible for architectural integrity, enforcing best
practices, and guiding the team to build robust, scalable solutions on our modern full-stack
platform. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on technical excellence and delivery, not
formal people management.

Responsibilities
- Technical Oversight & Quality Gateway: Serve as the ultimate quality gateway for the
team's output. Lead code reviews, architectural design sessions, and technical decision-making to ensure all solutions are robust, scalable, and adhere to established standards.
- Architectural Guidance: Translate product requirements into sound technical designs
and architectural patterns. Ensure the team's work aligns with the broader platform vision and long-term technical strategy.
- Project Execution & Delivery: Partner with the Product Owner to break down complex features into well-defined technical tasks. Proactively identify and resolve technical risks
and blockers to ensure the team consistently delivers on its commitments.
- Hands-On Development: Remain a significant, hands-on contributor to the codebase.
Lead by example by writing clean, high-quality code for critical features and tackling the
most complex technical challenges.
- Technical Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers on the
team. Foster a culture of learning and high standards through pair programming,
knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
- Process Improvement: Identify and advocate for improvements to the team's
development processes, tooling, and best practices to increase velocity and quality.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, including at least
3+ years in a Tech Lead, Staff/Principal Engineer, or senior mentorship capacity,
where you were responsible for the technical output of a team.
Leadership & Collaboration Skills:
Proven experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to an
engineering team.
Ability to translate high-level business requirements into a clear technical strategy and actionable tasks.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to build consensus on technical decisions.
Strong skills in technical planning, identifying risks, and managing technical debt.
GraphQL & API Expertise:
Expert-level knowledge of GraphQL Federation (Apollo Federation or a similar
spec) and experience architecting and implementing federated gateways
(GraphQL Hive Gateway, Apollo Gateway).
Deep, hands-on experience with database-first GraphQL tools like PostGraphile.
Proficiency with GraphQL schema management and registry tools like GraphQL Hive.
Frontend Expertise:
Strong knowledge of React and its modern ecosystem (Hooks, Context, State
Management).
Proficiency with modern frontend build tools, specifically Vite.
Database Skills: Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL, with demonstrated experience in
relational data modeling, advanced schema design, and query optimization.
TypeScript Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and its application across
both front-end and back-end contexts to enforce end-to-end type safety.
Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization
(Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with UI component development and documentation tools like
Storybook.
Familiarity with the Next.js framework and its concepts (SSR, SSG).
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
