Job Description

Role Overview: Were looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who can combine strong technical depth with effective team leadership. The role involves being hands-on with design and architecture, contributing to coding when required, and leading a high-performing engineering team to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

Work Location: Chennai

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Drive architecture and design discussions; contribute to scalable system design using microservices.

Hands-on Coding: Around 20% of your time will involve coding and reviewing complex modules.

Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of 15+ engineers. Conduct one-on-one sessions, performance appraisals, and continuous feedback cycles.

Project Management: Oversee estimation, sprint planning, delivery, and adherence to Agile methodologies.

DevOps & Cloud: Ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and system reliability. Work closely with DevOps teams on AWS, Kubernetes/ECS, and the observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana).

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers and other teams to drive business outcomes through technology.

Technology Agility: Maintain an open mindset to explore and adopt new technologies as needed.

Technical & Professional Requirements:

Experience: 10+ years of total experience with at least 7 - 8 years in team leadership/management.

Tech Stack (Essential): Node.js, Microservices, DevOps (CI/CD, AWS). Desirable: Frontend exposure with React.js.

Strong in: High-Level Design (HLD) and architectural decision-making. Designing and building scalable distributed systems. Applying Agile software development best practices. Using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Tabnine).
