Job Description
Title: Senior Associate (Specialized in Training & Extension)
Location: (Maharashtra - Paltan and Baramati), (Andhra Pradesh - Palmaner, Chittor)

TechnoServe in India typically focuses on agricultural value chain development, social entrepreneurship and innovative partnership models to enhance livelihood opportunities for the poor. The India operations have grown at an exponential pace over the past ten years and have to its credit some path-breaking work, executed across various states in India, including North East, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka etc.
Position Description:
The vacancy announcement is being advertised with reference to implementation of a demonstration project on clean milk procurement program for a multinational client in the state of Maharashtra. The program is aimed at bringing a behavioral / transformational change in dairy farming households animal husbandry / dairy practicing behavior so that it reflects in households improved income and thus paving a way for replication on a significant level. This is planned to be done by the way of building capacity of dairy farmers grouped in Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations (DFPGs) on various aspects of animal husbandry practices in general and clean milk production in particular besides providing them farm-based handholding / stewardship support. Overall objective of this program is to demonstrate clean milk production and procurement of good quality milk through few state of the art collection centers, housing Bulk Milk Coolers and thus creating a virtuous cycle of spiral growth. Some specific tasks for the position are as follows:-
i. Primarily responsible for the development of training and extension module for dairy farmers.
ii. Conducting monthly Dairy Farmer Producer Groups (DFPGs) trainings in selected villages;
iii. On-farm handholding support to farmers;
iv. Organizing Exposure Visits of farmers and Farm Melas in the villages;
v. Undertaking himself / assisting animal care specialist in conducting farm visits, vaccinations and other interventions;
vi. Supporting project staff in organizing technological demonstrations on open dairy farming, silage preparation, azolla cultivation and hydroponics besides also organizing expert visits to villages;
vii. On-site support to farmers on fodder management in general and dry fodder storage in particular;
viii. Support and actively participate in animal breed improvement program of our partner; and
ix. Support project team in collecting periodic Monitoring & Evaluation data.
Required Skills & Experience:
- BVSc & AH / MVSc
- 3-7 years of working experience primarily on training and extension services.
- Prior experience of working with national / multinationals agencies engaged in milk procurement and dairy development
- Excellent community mobilization skills
- Flexibility to travel extensively within project area.
- Fluency in Marathi is mandatory.
