Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle database binaries and database instances
- Perform Oracle database and binary patching (PSU/CPU/Release Updates)
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and optimal performance across environments
Backup & Recovery
- Manage backup and recovery operations using NetBackup
- Monitor backup jobs and perform periodic restore/recovery testing
- Design and maintain backup strategies aligned with business and compliance requirements
Performance Tuning & Monitoring
- Proactively monitor database performance and health
- Analyze AWR / ADDM reports, tune SQL queries, and optimize indexing strategies
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
Production Support & Operations
- Handle day-to-day production DBA activities, including:
- Script execution and deployment support
- Session management (blocking sessions, session termination)
- Incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Manage and respond to ServiceNow incident, problem, and change requests
- Execute approved changes for production databases
Data Virtualization & Environment Management
- Administer Delphix environments, including:
- dSource configuration
- Virtual Database (VDB) provisioning
- VDB refresh and lifecycle management
Job Scheduling & Automation
- Manage and monitor Control-M jobs related to database operations
- Troubleshoot job failures and ensure timely batch execution
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g / 12c / 19c or higher)
- Expertise in:
- Oracle installation and patching
- Database performance tuning and monitoring
- Backup and recovery using NetBackup
- Production DBA support and operations
- Experience with ServiceNow (Incident & Change Management)
- Hands-on experience with Delphix (dSource and VDB management)
- Experience with Control-M or similar job scheduling tools
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
Good to Have / Desirable Skills
Oracle & Automation
- Experience with Oracle RAC and/or Data Guard
- Scripting skills (Shell, Python, or PL/SQL)
- Automation mindset for repetitive DBA tasks
Cloud (Desirable)
- Experience running Oracle databases on AWS EC2
- Basic understanding of Amazon RDS for Oracle
- Knowledge of AWS EBS storage, snapshots, and performance characteristics
- Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch monitoring and IAM basics
- Exposure to onprem to cloud database migration projects is a plus
