.Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:o Assist chefs and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients for meals, includingwashing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and otheringredients.o Help with portioning food items for cooking, ensuring accuracy andconsistency.o Prepare and arrange items for cooking or plating, following kitchen staffinstructions.
2. Kitchen Organization and Cleaning:o Keep the kitchen area clean and organized by regularly cleaning surfaces,utensils, cutting boards, and kitchen equipment.o Clean and sanitize kitchen tools and utensils, ensuring hygiene standards aremaintained.o Assist in maintaining proper storage of food, ensuring ingredients are storedcorrectly and safely to prevent contamination.o Clean kitchen floors, counters, and equipment regularly to maintaincleanliness and order.
3. Dishwashing and Utensil Management:o Wash dishes, utensils, glassware, and cooking equipment in compliance withhygiene and safety standards.o Ensure that all dishware and kitchen tools are thoroughly cleaned and returnedto the appropriate storage areas.o Maintain a clean and efficient dishwashing area, disposing of wasteappropriately.
4. Assist with Stocking and Inventory:o Help in receiving deliveries and organizing food and supply stock in thekitchen.o Monitor inventory levels of food, cleaning supplies, and kitchen tools, andreport low stock to the kitchen supervisor.o Ensure that the kitchen area is always stocked with the necessary items fordaily operations.
5. Support for Cooking and Service:o Assist with the cooking process by following instructions from chefs andkitchen staff.o Help plate and garnish food as directed, ensuring presentation standards aremet.o Transport food items from the kitchen to the service area, assisting servers andother staff as needed
.6. Health and Safety Compliance:o Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienickitchen environment.o Ensure all food preparation areas are sanitized to prevent cross-contamination.o Adhere to safety protocols when using kitchen equipment, such as knives,ovens, and fryers.
7. Teamwork and Communication:o Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and otherkitchen helpers, to maintain an efficient kitchen operation.o Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensureall tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner.o Support kitchen staff during peak service hours to ensure food is prepared anddelivered quickly.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but notrequired.
Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
