Job Summary
Highly detail-oriented US Payroll Specialist with 23 years of hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll execution while maintaining strict adherence to US federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role requires strong analytical capability, confidentiality, and effective coordination across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end US payroll on, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly cycles
- Validate all payroll inputs including timesheets, bonuses, commissions, deductions, reimbursements, and any other payroll components
- Ensure accurate calculation and compliance for federal, state, and local taxes, including garnishments
- Execute payroll adjustments, off-cycle runs, and employee final settlements
- Maintain complete and compliant payroll records in accordance with company policies and US payroll laws
- Reconcile payroll reports, investigate discrepancies, and ensure error-free payroll prior to release
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendor for smooth payroll operations
- May be responsible to respond to, or support any employee queries regarding payroll, tax deductions, and paycheck issues
- Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and payroll audits
- Manage timely submission of payroll reports and statutory filings
Required Skills & Experience
- 23 years of experience in US payroll processing
- Strong understanding of US payroll tax regulations, compliance requirements, and statutory rules
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex, or similar platforms
- Proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachlors degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related discipline
- Experience working in shared services, outsourced, or global payroll environments
- Knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, and payroll audit processes
