Job Description
Job Summary:A Medical Coder / Sr. Coder (IPDRG Specialty) is responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes as per IPDRG guidelines.
The role ensures compliance, accuracy, and timely coding to support billing and reimbursement processes.Key Responsibilities:
- Review inpatient medical records (IP cases) and assign appropriate code
- Apply IPDRG (Inpatient Diagnosis Related Group) coding guidelines accurately
- Assign codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems
- Ensure coding accuracy for maximum reimbursement and compliance
- Analyze clinical documentation and query physicians for clarification
- Maintain productivity and quality standards as per company/client requirements
- Perform audits and ensure adherence to regulatory and payer guidelines
- Stay updated with coding changes, guidelines, and compliance policies
- Support team members (for Sr Coder role) and assist in training juniors
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IPDRG coding guidelines
- Expertise in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems
- Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Analytical and attention to detail
- Ability to meet TAT (Turnaround Time) and productivity targets
- Good communication skills for physician queries
