Position Summary
The Unit IT Head is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and management of IT operations within the hospital unit, including associated clinics and Occupational Health Centers. The role ensures that all IT systems, infrastructure, and digital platforms are secure, fully integrated, scalable, and aligned with clinical and operational objectives.
The incumbent drives digital transformation initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, maintains system reliability, and enables technology solutions that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and business continuity.
Key Accountabilities
1. Technology & IT Operations
- Oversee end-to-end IT infrastructure including data centres, networks, servers, endpoints, and cloud platforms.
- Ensure seamless integration and uptime of HIS, EHR, LIS, RIS, ERP, and other clinical and administrative systems.
- Maintain high system availability and minimize downtime impacting patient care or hospital operations.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data protection standards (HIPAA, GDPR, DPDPA, HL7, FHIR, etc.).
- Implement robust cybersecurity frameworks and incident response protocols.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, Digital NABH and other accreditation standards.
- Oversee IT operations for associated clinics, peer units, and Occupational Health Centers.
- Supervise technical operations of CCTV systems as per government compliance norms.
2. Strategy & Digital Transformation
- Define and execute the units IT strategy aligned with hospital goals.
- Drive digital transformation including EHR optimization, telemedicine, automation, AI adoption, and workflow digitization.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Continuously evaluate hardware and software to enhance scalability, security, and efficiency.
- Provide technology recommendations to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
3. People Management
- Lead and manage IT teams including system administrators, network engineers, developers, and support staff.
- Set performance objectives, conduct evaluations, and ensure capability development.
- Foster a high-performance, service-oriented IT culture aligned with hospital needs.
4. Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage IT vendors, service providers, and implementation partners.
- Oversee SLAs, contracts, and service quality standards.
- Ensure procurement decisions align with budget and long-term strategic goals.
5. Financial Control
- Develop and manage the IT budget for the unit.
- Optimize IT spending while maintaining operational excellence.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through automation and digital enablement.
