Location - Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Gurugram.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior MongoDB Database Administrator to lead the architecture, scalability, and security of our high-traffic NoSQL database infrastructure. You will be the technical lead for MongoDB deployments across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), ensuring 99.99% availability and industry-leading performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Scaling: Design and implement highly available Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters. Lead horizontal scaling initiatives by selecting optimal shard keys and managing chunk distribution.
- Performance Optimization: Conduct deep-dive query profiling and optimize the Aggregation Framework pipelines. Manage advanced indexing strategies, including compound, multikey, and TTL indexes.
- Cloud & Atlas Administration: Manage MongoDB Atlas environments, including cluster tiering, auto-scaling configuration, and serverless instance management.
- Security & Compliance: Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Field-Level Client-Side Encryption, and auditing to meet GDPR or SOC2 standards.
- Automation (DBaaS): Develop "Infrastructure as Code " (IaC) using Terraform or Ansible to automate database provisioning and upgrades.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design robust DR strategies with sub-minute Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) using Atlas Backup or Ops Manager snapshots.
- Collaboration: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for development teams to provide guidance on schema design (embedding vs. linking) and data modeling.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 6-10+ years of professional DBA experience, with at least 4-5 years dedicated to MongoDB in a large-scale production environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting (Python/Bash).
- Deep understanding of WiredTiger storage engine internals.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or MongoDB Cloud Manager.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Preferred Certifications
- MongoDB Certified Associate DBA (2026 Version).
- Associate Atlas Administrator.
- Cloud Platform Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty or Azure Database Administrator).
Desired Soft Skills
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to resolve complex production incidents under 24/7 high-pressure rotations.
- Mentorship: Experience mentoring junior DBAs and leading technical cross-functional projects.
