Job Title: Red Hat OpenShift Subject Matter Expert (SME)
We are looking for a skilled Red Hat OpenShift SME to support a large-scale migration of applications and workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift.
The role involves assessing existing environments, planning migration strategy, modernizing applications, and ensuring smooth delivery across hybrid on-premises and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Migration & Modernization
- Lead the migration of workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift and AWS Outposts.
- Assess applications and recommend the right migration approach (rehost, replatform, refactor).
- Support containerization of applications and deployment onto OpenShift.
Platform Engineering
- Deploy and manage OpenShift clusters on AWS and on-prem environments.
- Work with AWS services including VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, Load Balancers, and RDS.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of OpenShift platforms.
DevOps & Automation
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines.
- Use Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Automate cluster provisioning and application deployments.
Security & Compliance
- Apply security best practices across OpenShift, VMware, and AWS environments.
- Manage roles, permissions, secrets, certificates, and network policies.
Operations & Support
- Monitor platform performance and optimize cost, reliability, and scalability.
- Provide advanced technical support during and after migration.
- Prepare documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Required Skills & Experience
- 12+ years of experience in VMware, Linux, Cloud, or Platform Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (installation, operations, troubleshooting).
- Solid understanding of AWS services and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and IaC tools.
- Background in application migration, modernization, or cloud transformation.
- Strong Linux (RHEL) administration skills along with Ceph, ODF, CSM, ASM is must.
Desired Qualifications
- Red Hat Certifications (RHCE, OpenShift Specialist)
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS
- AWS Certifications (Architect/ DevOps)
Collaboration
- Work with application teams, architects, cloud engineering groups, and vendor teams.
- Take part in technical discussions, design reviews, and client presentations.
