Job Description
Middleware Services Lead
Role Summary
The Middleware Services Lead will manage and optimize middleware platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security while driving automation, modernization, and integration with DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
Middleware Platforms
Operate and manage:
o WebLogic - MANDATORY
o IIS - MANDATORY
o Tomcat
o Apache
o WAF & Load Balancers (F5, NetScaler)
Service Monitoring
Track middleware health (e.g., JVM status, queue depth, thread usage) using tools like AppDynamics or Splunk.
Detect anomalies or threshold breaches in real-time.
Alert Handling
Respond to system alerts, restart failed services, and escalate unresolved issues.
Basic Troubleshooting
Check logs, resolve job failures, and perform SOP-based actions (e.g., IDoc reprocessing).
Access & Ticket Management
Handle password resets, antivirus status checks, and log tickets with accurate categorization.
Backup & Job Verification
Confirm scheduled jobs and backups are completed successfully.
System Administration
Install, configure, and maintain middleware platforms (e.g., WebSphere, MQ, JBoss).
Apply patches, upgrades, and validate post-maintenance stability.
Performance Tuning
Optimize thread pools, heap sizes, and connection pools for runtime efficiency.
Security & Compliance
Manage SSL/TLS certificates, firewall rules, and audit configurations.
Ensure compliance with organizational security standards.
Automation & DevOps
Use Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins for provisioning, patching, and CI/CD integration.
HA/DR & Architecture
Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery setups.
Transformation & Planning
Define SOPs, escalation matrices, and lead initiatives in observability, compliance, and platform upgrades.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of middleware platforms (WebLogic, IIS, Tomcat, Apache).
Familiarity with load balancers (F5, NetScaler) and WAF.
Experience with monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk).
Proficiency in automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of SSL/TLS, firewall configurations, and security best practices.
Certifications
Middleware platform certifications (Oracle WebLogic, IIS, Apache).
DevOps certifications (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
Security certifications (CISSP, CISM) desirable.
