Job Purpose
The Sr. Manager Payroll will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll management for a large workforce, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, accuracy in payroll processing, and maintaining robust checks and balances. The role will also focus on streamlining HRMS, attendance & leave management systems, and managing overtime policies effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timely disbursement of salaries.
Oversee employee data management (Excel Must - Advanced Excel), including new joiners, exits, transfers, and salary revisions.
Ensure statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, LWF, Gratuity, Bonus Act, etc.) and timely filing of returns.
Manage attendance & leave systems, overtime calculations, and integration with payroll.
Implement strong checks and balances to ensure error-free payroll processing.
Handle payroll reconciliations, audit requirements, and respond to queries from employees and management.
Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Drive automation and efficiency in payroll through effective use of HRMS and technology.
Stay updated with changes in labour laws, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
Prepare periodic MIS reports on payroll, compliance, and related metrics for management review.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of payroll systems, compliance, and statutory laws.
Expertise in HRMS, attendance management systems, and payroll software.
Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll-related reporting.
Qualification & Experience
Any Graduate + PG in MBA in Finance or Inter CA or ICWA or Diploma in accounts/finance.
8+ years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a large workforce/blue-collar intensive industry (cash management, logistics, security services, etc.).
Prior experience in managing payroll for 10,000+ employees will be an added advantage.
