Job Description
Backend Engineers develop scalable cloud-native backend services and APIs using Java, Go, or Python within Google Cloud environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services, APIs, and distributed workflows.
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and observability.
- Develop high-quality code using microservices patterns.
- Build automated tests and improve code quality standards.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and frontend teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
Level Definitions
Mid-Level (510 years)
- Owns development of services/modules end-to-end.
- Writes designs for features and services.
- Manages moderate complexity systems independently.
Senior (510 advanced OR >10 core)
- Leads design for multi-service systems and complex architecture tasks.
- Mentors mid-level engineers; drives quality and scalability.
- Solves complex performance, concurrency, and reliability challenges.
Lead (>10 years advanced)
- Defines backend engineering standards and technical direction.
- Provides oversight across multiple backend teams.
- Leads architectural alignment and modernization initiatives.
