Job Description
Development Operations (DevOps) Head will be responsible for helping companies implement DevOps strategies and methods throughout the development and deployment process for technical solutions. They utilize strong interpersonal skills to lead DevOps teams, monitor project workflow, and ensure the finished product meets quality and reliability standards. DevOps Manager jobs include directly overseeing the implementation, deployment, and integration of solutions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery. They also plan, build, configure, and test solutions, maintain systems, analyze and approve new code, and perform automation tasks. They are expected to manage all aspects of solutions deployment and technical operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a scalable and secure infrastructure to support our payments solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Manage DevOps team, assigning and monitoring workflow and ensuring quality and efficiency is maintained
- Lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks, streamline deployment processes, and implement effective orchestration, leveraging tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Drive the implementation of robust CI/CD pipelines to facilitate frequent and reliable software releases.
- Establish and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues, ensuring optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with the security team to implement and enforce best practices for securing infrastructure and applications, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Foster strong collaboration between development and operations teams, promoting a DevOps culture focused on efficiency, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with engineering teams to forecast resource needs, optimize infrastructure costs, and plan for future growth.
Required Skills:
- Proven development and/or DevOps experience deploying and maintaining multi-tiered infrastructure and applications.
- Basic knowledge of Relational Databases and NoSql databases
- Experience with real-time failover architecture, principles, and processes.
- Proficiency in managing infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Must have team-handling experience
- Must have excellent communication skills and technical writing skills (Communicate technical design through diagrams, documents, and presentations)
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop automation with services and required tools.
- Be an advocate for DevOps mindset and culture, collaboration, flexibility, cross-domain knowledge, and sharing. Self-driven individual who understands requirements develops, and coaches others as needed.
- Background in infrastructure and configuration as code platforms (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
- Hands-on experience managing and scaling CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, Github, etc.)
- Availability to participate in on-call rotations to respond to and handle after-hour issues
- Hands-on productive experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, etc)
- Knowledge of network protocols, monitoring systems (like New Relic, Datadog, Grafana etc.) and database administration (MySQL, Aerospike, MongoDB, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with production-grade container orchestrators (Kubernetes, Nomad)
- Knowledge of Hadoop, AWS Kinesis, HA Proxy, and Aerospike is a plus.
- Experience working with log analysis and monitoring tools in a distributed application scenario
- Experience in troubleshooting system issues causing downtime or performance degradation
- Experience in working in an Agile environment
- Extensive knowledge in Load balancing and auto-scale up and down in a cloud setup
