Job Description
Employment Type: Full-timeExperience Level: Lead Level (10+ years preferred)Scrum Master to guide and support Agile delivery teams within our Healthcare Payer technology ecosystem.
The Scrum Master will play a critical role in enabling high-performing teams that deliver digital health and data management solutions including claims processing systems, provider management portals, ETL data pipelines, and cloud-based applications on Microsoft Azure.The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of Agile principles, servant leadership, and payer industry processes, ensuring that technology initiatives align with enterprise delivery goals, compliance, and healthcare regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, CMS, NCQA, etc.).Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams working on healthcare payer applications and data solutions.
Facilitate all Agile ceremonies daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives ensuring time-box adherence and clear outcomes.
Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Technical Leads to refine and maintain healthy, prioritized product backlogs.
Track and manage sprint metrics (velocity, burndown, lead time, etc.) to improve predictability and throughput.
Remove impediments and dependencies that block team progress, escalating as needed.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within and across teams.Understand and align Scrum activities with payer business functions including claims adjudication, member enrollment, provider management, prior authorization, and utilization management.
Ensure project deliverables comply with HIPAA and PHI data handling standards.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure Agile delivery integrates smoothly with legacy systems (e.g., Facets, QNXT, HealthEdge, or Tapestry) and modern Azure-based microservices.
Partner with business stakeholders to define and track business value metrics, not just technical velocity.
Facilitate collaboration between payer operations, IT, and analytics teams to deliver member- and provider-centric outcomes.
Track and report Agile metrics (velocity, sprint health, predictability) and key delivery KPIs for leadership dashboards.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve Agile maturity and delivery efficiency.
Facilitate retrospectives that lead to actionable process enhancements.
Support compliance, documentation, and audit readiness in accordance with payer and regulatory standards.
Contribute to organizational Agile CoE (Center of Excellence) initiatives.5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, or Agile Coach.
Proven experience leading cross-functional teams delivering data, integration, or application solutions in the healthcare payer domain.
Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and hands-on facilitation of Agile ceremonies.
Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, Rally, or equivalent Agile lifecycle management tools.
Solid knowledge of software delivery life cycle (SDLC) and Agile release management processes.
Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in an enterprise context (Azure, Git, Jenkins, etc.).Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II) required.
SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) certification preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) a plus.
Healthcare-specific certification (AHIP, Certified Health Data Analyst) is advantageous.
