We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Lead / Performance Engineer with strong experience in banking production systems. The role involves monitoring mission-critical banking applications, conducting issue analysis (application, DB, infra), and providing performance tuning recommendations to ensure stability, scalability, and high availability of core and digital banking platforms.Key Responsibilities
- Lead production performance monitoring and incident analysis for core and digital banking applications.
- Monitor transaction performance, system health, and SLAs using APM and observability tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, etc.).
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for performance issues, including application slowdowns, DB query bottlenecks, GC pauses, or infrastructure constraints.
- Provide tuning recommendations for:
- Application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, Kubernetes).
- Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Exadata).
- Messaging systems (MQ, Kafka, ESB).
- Collaborate with development, DBAs, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to implement performance fixes.
- Build dashboards, alerts, and automated monitoring solutions for proactive issue detection.
- Contribute to capacity planning and scalability assessments for high-volume banking workloads (e.g., payments, fund transfers, core banking transactions).
- Simulate and analyze production-like loads to validate performance improvements.
- Document best practices, playbooks, and tuning guidelines for production support teams.
- Lead war-room discussions during high-severity performance incidents and provide quick technical solutions.
- Mentor junior SREs and performance engineers in issue diagnosis and tuning techniques.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6 - 10+ years of experience in SRE / Performance Engineering, with a strong focus on banking and financial services applications.
- Hands-on expertise in monitoring tools: Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, InfluxDB.
- Strong understanding of core and digital banking platforms such as Oracle FLEXCUBE, Finacle, T24, TCS BaNCS, OBDX, Internet/Mobile Banking apps.
- Deep knowledge of application performance troubleshooting (Java/J2EE stack, GC analysis, heap/thread dump analysis).
- Strong SQL skills and database performance tuning (Oracle Exadata, SQL Server, DB2).
- Familiarity with containerized and cloud environments (Kubernetes, Docker, Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with incident management, RCA, and problem management in production environments.
- Knowledge of capacity planning, resiliency testing, and failover analysis.
- Ability to handle high-pressure production issues and provide quick, effective solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk).
- Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Prior experience with regulatory and compliance-driven banking systems.
- Exposure to chaos engineering and resiliency testing.
