Inviting applications for the role of Principal Site Reliability Engineer (Java Stack Java/Apache/Tomcat/Oracle/Shell Scripting)

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Site Reliability Engineer (1215 years) with a proven track record in architecting, automating, and optimizing large-scale Java-based platforms. The role centres on mission-critical Java applications utilizing Apache, Tomcat, and Oracle, requiring expert-level automation via Shell scripting and advanced observability leveraging New Relic or similar observability platform.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the architecture, deployment, and reliability of enterprise-scale Java applications running on Apache HTTP Server and Tomcat.
  • Lead the design, operation, and tuning of Oracle databases for optimal availability and performance.
  • Create and maintain sophisticated Shell scripts for automation, deployment, monitoring, and systems recovery.
  • Architect, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for Java environments using Jenkins, GitLab, or equivalent.
  • Serve as the primary SME for observability, driving adoption and advanced utilization of New Relic for in-depth monitoring, alerting, and real-time telemetry analysis.
  • Lead incident response, major outage reviews, and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams on SRE, automation, and observability best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on platform scalability.
  • Champion continuous improvement in operational processes and documentation.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience of progressive SRE Engineering experience with deep focus on Java ecosystems.
  • Comprehensive expertise with Java, Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, and enterprise-grade Oracle databases.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Shell scripting for automation and orchestration.
  • Substantial experience implementing and managing New Relic (or similar) for advanced observability.
  • Mastery in CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automation pipelines for Java systems.
  • Strong track record in incident/problem management and postmortem analysis.
  • Superior leadership, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

  • Expert with cloud-native and container-based architecture (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • In-depth knowledge of JVM internals, thread dump and memory analysis.
  • Experience with multi-region, highly available, and scalable system architectures.
  • Recognized certifications (Java, Oracle, New Relic, cloud platforms).
