Job Description
- Support clients with the following Banner modules: Student AR, Student and Financial Aid
- Serves as the lead expert regarding Ellucian products (list at the end of the document) including Banner and other related applications and work processes.
- Performs analysis and problem solving to provide effective use of college information systems in support of client s goals and objectives.
- Analyzing and correcting client systems and setup issues
- Create business and process flow diagrams for both current and desired state. This includes all aspects of the Banner student system
- Integration of third-party systems to Banner and Banner to third-party systems
- Creating test plans/scripts and end-user documentation per client requirements
- Create and update client specific procedure manuals and training documents
- Develop student billing statements to client specifications focus on utilizing Banner ERP baseline where possible
- Provides education, support, vision and guidance on technology issues (focused on Ellucian products) to the Information Technology department, the College, and various committees and projects.
- Works collaboratively with teams within the IT Department and critical customers (Admissions / Registrar/ Financial Aid / Treasury Services) across the College to understand their unique IT challenges and needs. Develops plans and strategies for meeting these customer expectations.
- Maintains close contact with the College community to ensure needs and expectations are being met.
- Work with client team to create and update the current and future process design documents to accurately represent the processes agreed to be used for the business, technical and/or security areas.
- Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to best practices standards.
- Assist business users at client to become more efficient and effective utilizing Banner .
- Translate conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible for the Functional Design Document as well as for the Technical Design document and project team.
- Provide functional expertise in each area of Banner to assess the current usage of Banner and policies surrounding different functions pertaining to Banner at client and how the client could benefit from implementing more areas of Banner and use it as it is designed.
- Write functional specifications clearly and persuasively. Provide alternative approaches or directions to decisions.
- Coordinate customizations through all phases (discovery, proposal/estimation, design, development, testing, documenting, upgrades) and ensure timely delivery of product and documentation deliverables.
- Keep current on all products of Ellucian to assist client in finding the most applicable solution to their needs (Student, Financial Aid, A/R,).
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills
- Banner Student / AR / Financial Aid Consultant with extensive experience in all aspects of Student implementations at higher education institutions.
- Progressively responsible accounting experience within higher education system as well as a proven track record as an efficient and effective Banner Student, Accounts Receivable and Financial Aid Consultant.
- Worked in a capacity of Banner Student and Financial Aid earlier (preferred).
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills; convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Designs/redefines business processes to ensure optimal use of the Banner system.
- Works with clients to define implementation project plans, deliver training sessions, ensure error free data conversion, and provide pre- and post-production support throughout the entire Student lifecycle.
- Excels at problem solving.
- Prepares detailed status reports during each engagement to provide internal and external project management with critical information for each step of the project.
- Tune up existing Banner Student installations by revising or reimplementing existing software features, implementing unused functionality, and crafting new business processes to better utilize the institution s existing technology.
- Develop functional reports, queries, and tools to analyze data within an institution s database to provide better business intelligence.
- Design and implement creative solutions utilizing Banner Student and other Ellucian software products to address gaps in automation and efficiency.
- Experience in conversion from Banner to Oracle Cloud.
- Experience in implementation of Ellucian Experience.
- Familiar with Banner 9 (XE).
- Tests new releases to the product during semi-annual releases.
- Write functional specifications and tested modules to adhere to specifications and SCT-published standards. Performed system tests and wrote and reviewed documentation.
Functional and Technical Skills
- Banner implementations and revitalizations Student AR. Student. Financial Aid.
- TouchNet, CashNet, NelNet and other Banner integrations.
- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- SQL scripting and queries
- Oracle database SQL query proficiency
- Passionate about implementing systems for client current business processes
- Collaborate well with other team members and management
- Ability to juggle many tasks of the project at one time
