Key Purpose of the RoleA Plantation Operation Manager understands Agronomy, has overseen farm management operations before. Will be good to have knowledge of Napier planting.
Farm management and planning: It covers End-to-End operation starting from overseeing the land preparation, purchase of Agri inputs, having an agreement of Seed purchase and planning the seed quantity basis the planting plan, daily scouting of the area to identify and resolve issues in the plantation, harvester scheduling, meeting the harvest targets, and logistic coordination are his core jobs. He needs to ensure we have a visibility on the production plan and manage the farm so that we attain the objective.

Plantation Operations Management:

• Land Validation : Preparing Land specific Package of Practices for Energy Crop Farming
• Planning and Organizing: Develop and implement planting, cultivation, and harvesting plans.
• Resource Management: Oversee the efficient use of resources, including land, labour, machinery, and finances.
• Quality Control: Ensure high-quality crops and products through adherence to standards and best practices.
• Yield Optimization: Implement strategies to improve crop yields and overall productivity.
• Labor Management: Develop and maintain an efficient workforce, including recruitment, training, and supervision.
• Optimization of usage of Harvesting Equipment: Deployment of Harvester, daily monitoring of expenses, preventive maintenance, meeting the daily target.
• Logistic Vehicle management : Either on hiring model or by own fleet, optimization the per trip quantity transported.
• Sustainability and Compliance:
  • Sustainable Practices: Implement and maintain sustainable agricultural practices, including environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

• Communication and Leadership :
  • Team Leadership: Train, Motivate and lead a team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including management, suppliers, and customers.

• Specific Tasks:
  • Digital integration : Monitoring, reporting of all plantation sites
  • Land Preparation: Oversee land clearing, preparation, and
  • Planting and Cultivation: Supervise planting, fertilization, pest control, gap filling and other cultivation activities.
  • Harvesting and Post-Harvest Handling: Manage harvesting operations and ensure proper post-harvest handling and
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and machinery.
  • Team Management: Hiring skilful resources for plantation, harvesting operation and transportation and retaining them.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all plantation activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Area Criteria Expectations General Background Experience Fertilizer sales, seed development, Large Scale Plantation Management, Harvester, Logistic, Planning and Budgeting Employment History 2 to 4 Years of Experience in Farm Implement and Input sector.
Experience in Napier Farming is preferred.
Must have handled Tractors & Harvesters. Technical Competency Knowledge Advance Excel, PPT and Computer Operating Knowledge Experience Farm management, Contract farming, running Seed program for reputed brand Strengths Manage Plantation, Harvesting, transporter and customer expectations Education/ Training Preference to B.Sc (Agri) / M.Sc. Agri (Preferably with Agronomy) and Management Degree from Reputed Institutes. People Management/ Leadership Presentation/ Communication Skills Strong verbal communication, knowledge of Local language Interpersonal Skills Friendly & Assertive Leadership Traits People Management
