Job Description
- Collect blood samples using venipuncture, capillary, or other approved collection methods.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of all specimens.
- Prepare and maintain collection equipment and work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures during specimen collection and handling.
- Record and document patient information accurately in the laboratory system.
- Provide assistance and reassurance to patients during collection, especially those anxious or uncomfortable with the procedure.
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify the supervisor of shortages.
