Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled specialist to lead the migration of legacy mainframe applications to a modern midrange Java environment using Astadia Factory tools. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in mainframe technologies, strong debugging capabilities, and hands-on experience with Java codeespecially post-conversion. This role is critical to ensuring the successful transformation and deployment of applications in AWS Batch.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize Astadia Factory tools to transform mainframe applications to Java-based midrange systems.
- Debug and validate converted Java code, ensuring functional parity with legacy systems.
- Analyze and resolve issues in both mainframe and converted Java environments.
- Document technical designs, migration strategies, and troubleshooting steps.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth migration and integration.
- Collaborate with Cloud engineers to deploy applications in AWS Batch.
- Mentor junior developers and support knowledge transfer across teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS).
- 2+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- Strong debugging skills in both mainframe and Java environments.
- Experience with mainframe-to-Java migration frameworks is a plus
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and SQL.
- Understanding of AWS and cloud deployment practices.
- Exposure to Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Certifications in AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with Python or other modern programming languages is a plus.
