Roles & Responsibilities of a Floor Manager in an IT Company

1. People Management

  • Team Coordination: Ensure smooth collaboration among team members across departments.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate interpersonal issues and maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Attendance & Shift Oversight: Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and shift adherence.
  • Onboarding Support: Assist HR in integrating new hires into the floor culture and operations.

2. Floor Culture & Behavior

  • Culture Champion: Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Behavioral Standards: Enforce professional conduct and company values.
  • Engagement Activities: Organize team-building events, recognition programs, and informal gatherings.
  • Feedback Loop: Encourage open communication and feedback between employees and leadership.

3. Data-Based Decision Making

  • Operational Metrics Tracking: Monitor KPIs such as productivity, downtime, and issue resolution rates.
  • Trend Analysis: Use data to identify patterns in performance, attendance, and morale.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management with actionable insights.
  • Tool Optimization: Recommend or implement tools that improve workflow based on data insights.

4. Performance Evaluation & Grading

  • Evaluation Framework: Collaborate with HR and team leads to define fair and transparent performance metrics.
  • Regular Reviews: Conduct monthly/quarterly performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Grading System: Maintain a grading system that reflects individual contributions, growth, and potential.
  • Improvement Plans: Identify underperformers and design personalized development plans.

5. Operational Oversight

  • Floor Readiness: Ensure all systems, equipment, and facilities are functioning optimally.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Enforce adherence to safety, security, and IT policies.
  • Escalation Handling: Act as the first point of contact for operational issues and escalate when needed.

6. Leadership & Development

  • Mentorship: Guide junior staff and foster leadership potential.
  • Training Coordination: Identify skill gaps and coordinate training sessions.
  • Succession Planning
