What you'll Do
- As a backend Java developer, you will work within a specific problem space critical to Telstra s current needs where you will design, develop, and deploy backend services with a focus on scalability, high availability, and low latency.
- Review and integrate all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements.
- Apply engineering best practices such as Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps as part of ahigh performing motivated team.
- Collaborate and grow in a dynamic and autonomous environment while working in small, agile, and cross functional teams
- Pivot to working on new features and developments, to providing production support in the production and pre-production environments assisted by all team members. This responsibility is equally shared by all members of the team.
About You
- Strong overall software engineering experience (5-10 years).
- Background in systems administration, monitoring and operations--very comfortable on a Linux command-line (5-10 years).
- Strong Python experience (2-5 years). Understands issues around code quality and writes automated tests for the code they produce.
- Strong experience in infrastructure automation and AWS in particular (2-5 years). Certifications preferred.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking (should understand what the ISO network layers are for example).
- Excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Demonstrated interested in one or more other areas of software engineering, including object-oriented design idioms and design patterns, software architecture, software security, algorithms, etc
