Lead, mentor, and manage a team of medical coders specializing in various specialties (e.g., Cardiology, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, OB/GYN, etc.)
Ensure coding is accurate, compliant, and in accordance with current CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines and payer-specific rules
Monitor coding quality and productivity metrics; implement performance improvement plans as needed
Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain coding accuracy and compliance
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for coding policies and payer updates
Provide training and continuing education for team members on coding updates and specialty-specific guidelines
Collaborate with billing, auditing, and clinical documentation teams to resolve coding-related issues and denials
Develop and maintain coding policies and procedures
Support onboarding of new coding staff and ensure competency through structured training programs
Prepare reports and presentations for leadership on coding trends, productivity, and compliance
Stay current on industry changes, including CMS updates, payer requirements, and regulatory compliance
Preferred candidate profile
CPC certification (Certified Professional Coder) from AAPC is mandatory
Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Proven experience in multi-specialty coding across both outpatient and/or professional services
In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
