Role & responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the blood bank, including collection, testing, storage, and issue of blood and components.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory guidelines (Drugs & Cosmetics Act, NABH/NABL/ISO standards).
- Monitor quality control processes and maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Train, guide, and evaluate technical staff to maintain high standards of performance.
- Ensure proper functioning and calibration of equipment, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with clinicians, hospital departments, and external agencies to meet blood supply requirements.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, biosafety, and transfusion safety protocols.
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
Preferred candidate profile
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Transfusion Medicine (preferred, not mandatory).
- Minimum 68 years of experience in a licensed blood bank, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of transfusion medicine, blood component preparation, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
