Job Description: Lead Cloud Platform Engineer
Role Objective
The Lead Cloud Platform Engineer acts as a technical expert in one or more cloud domains, delivering comprehensive cloud solutions while leading a pod of Cloud Platform Engineers. This role requires close collaboration with Cloud Solution Architects and serves as an escalation point for 24x7 operational support. The position demands deep expertise in cloud technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Analyze performance data to identify trends and support data-driven decisions.
Incident Management
- Act as an escalation point for complex incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical challenges in customer cloud environments.
- Escalate unresolved issues to hyperscalers as required.
- Guide and mentor Cloud Platform Engineers within the pod.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Document incidents and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
- Implement proactive measures to minimize incident likelihood.
Security Posture Management
- Implement and enforce security best practices across customer cloud environments.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and industry frameworks.
- Stay updated on evolving security threats and apply patches/updates accordingly.
Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Provide advanced technical expertise in one or more cloud domains.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and support of cloud infrastructure solutions.
Solution Delivery
- Partner with Cloud Solution Architects and Cloud Platform Engineers to deliver end-to-end cloud solutions that meet customer objectives.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline operations, reduce errors, and improve efficiency.
- Utilize scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to team members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Collaborate with Cloud Platform Engineers, Technical Account Managers, and Customer Success Managers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Share expertise with Cloud Platform Engineers and customers to enhance knowledge transfer.
Continuous Learning & Development
- Stay current with the latest cloud technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Pursue relevant certifications to strengthen technical expertise.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
Customer Support
- Provide advanced technical support for customer service requests, inquiries, and issues.
- Collaborate with customer success teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Create FAQs and knowledge base content to improve self-service capabilities.
