Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join our GIS platform development team in Hyderabad, India. This role involves maintaining and enhancing a GIS-based platform that provides critical insights to underwriting, claims, and the enterprise risk management team. The platform includes a suite of APIs and UI components designed to evaluate risk concentrations and generate natural peril risk scores.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance GIS platform components including APIs and UI.
- Develop and optimize backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and manage data solutions using Oracle databases.
- Develop scripts and automation tools using Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including risk analysts, underwriters, and claims teams to improve platform functionality.
- Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Contribute to Agile development practices and participate in sprint activities.
- Document technical solutions, designs, and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4-8 years of experience in software engineering with expertise in backend development.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Proficiency in Oracle databases for data management and querying.
- Solid programming experience with Python.
- Understanding of developing and managing RESTful APIs.
- Experience working within Agile development methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have Skills
- Knowledge of GIS concepts and tools like ArcGIS.
- Experience with Postgres databases.
- Front-end development skills with React and jQuery.
- Familiarity with natural peril risk modelling and evaluation techniques.
