Job Description
Job Title: System Administrator
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator to manage and maintain our organizations IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of servers, networks, and other systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing support to end-users. You will work closely with the IT team to ensure optimal system performance, security, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor the performance, availability, and security of company servers and network systems.
- Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain servers (physical and virtual) including Windows, Linux, or other OS as required.
- Network Management: Ensure the health of the network infrastructure by configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Security: Manage and enforce security policies, including configuring firewalls, managing antivirus programs, and performing security patches and updates.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to system performance, networking, and hardware.
- User Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users; resolve hardware/software issues in a timely manner.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network designs, procedures, and any other technical processes.
- Software Installation and Updates: Install, configure, and upgrade software applications and operating systems.
- Collaboration: Work with IT team members and other departments to support the organizations IT infrastructure.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in system administration, network administration, or a related IT field.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in managing Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
- Strong understanding of security practices and tools.
- Certifications (preferred but not required):
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Linux Certifications.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
