R&D Engineer-I - Design (R&D Accessories)
Innovate high voltage power cable accessories
Are you a focused and future-oriented Design Engineer with experience in mechanical modelling and simulations? Do you want to be part of the worlds renewable energy transformation? Develop innovative high voltage accessories
As an R&D Engineer-I, you will play a crucial role in product development projects for high voltage power cable accessories. You will utilize 3D CAD design software to deliver new designs based on innovative concepts. Your role will be to:

  • Participate in product development projects and utilize 3D CAD design software.
  • Implement comprehensive knowledge in high voltage power products and applications.
  • Understand mechanical/electrical simulations and materials used in high voltage cable accessories.
  • Utilize various manufacturing processes to reduce costs of components.
  • Collaborate closely with other specialists within NKT.

You will be part of a global Accessories R&D team, collaborating with sites in Sweden, Germany, and India. The position is based in Chennai, with occasional travel estimated at 20 days per year, both domestic and international.
Experienced design engineer driven by innovation

  • We are looking for a motivated and innovative individual with a BTech/MTech degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • Should have 3-6 years of experience in designing medium or high voltage power products, proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, and the ability to evaluate simulation results.
  • Knowledge of high voltage test labs and design for manufacturing is essential. Fluency in Business English is required.

You also have:

  • Very good proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CREO, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of PLM systems like Windchill.
  • Ability to perform electrical/mechanical simulations by COMSOL/Ansys.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in product design.
