 System Administrator (Windows & Linux)

Job Description

  • Windows Server Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments.
    • Manage and support Active Directory (AD) environments, group policies, DNS, DHCP, etc.
    • Perform routine system administration tasks, including updates, backups, and monitoring.
    • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues related to Windows Server infrastructure.

  • Linux System Administration:
    • Administer Linux-based servers and environments (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
    • Ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of Linux servers.
    • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics for server-related issues on Linux systems.

  • Python Scripting & Automation:
    • Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
    • Create custom tools and solutions using Python to enhance the efficiency of system operations.
    • Integrate Python automation with both Windows and Linux environments for system monitoring, reporting, and provisioning.

  • Active Directory & Identity Management:
    • Expertise in managing Active Directory (AD), user accounts, groups, and permissions.
    • Integrate Linux systems with Active Directory for single sign-on (SSO) and centralized authentication.
    • Implement and support LDAP-based applications and services.

  • Kerberos Authentication:
    • Expertise in Kerberos authentication protocols and troubleshooting.
    • Configure and manage Kerberos for both Windows and Linux systems.
    • Work with security teams to enforce best practices for secure authentication.

  • Security & Compliance:
    • Apply security patches and updates to both Windows and Linux systems regularly.
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments and resolve issues in a timely manner.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and best practices.

  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure system health.
    • Generate and analyze system logs, identifying any issues that may require corrective action.
    • Report on system performance, resource utilization, and uptime statistics.

  • Collaboration & Support:
    • Collaborate with development, security, and network teams to improve overall IT infrastructure.
    • Provide technical support and guidance for both Windows and Linux environments.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving user issues related to authentication, access, and system performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Experience:

    • 6+ years of experience in Windows Server and Linux system administration.
    • Proven experience in Active DirectoryLDAP, and Kerberos authentication protocols.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in Windows Server (2012/2016/2019) administration.
    • In-depth knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) system administration.
    • Python scripting knowledge for automation and system management.
    • Understanding of Active DirectoryLDAPKerberos, and integration with both Windows and Linux systems.

  • Tools & Technologies:
    • Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, or similar).
    • Knowledge of system patching and update management (WSUS, YUM, APT, etc.).
    • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).

  • Security Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with security best practices for system hardening.
    • Experience with SSL certificates, firewalls, and securing access to systems.

  • Problem-Solving:
    • Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues across Windows and Linux environments.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve complex system issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward system management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Windows Server (MCSE, MCSA) and Linux (RHCE, Linux+).
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
