Job Description
Job Title: US Mortgage Underwriter
Location: [Pune / Chennai]
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced US Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end underwriting process of residential mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with investor guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, income documentation, and property appraisals.
- Perform risk assessments and make sound underwriting decisions on conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
- Ensure loans meet all investor and regulatory guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.).
- Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly to processors and loan officers.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and productivity while meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
- Stay updated on industry trends, underwriting guidelines, and compliance regulations.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in US mortgage underwriting (end-to-end).
- DE/SAR/LAPP certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of AUS systems (DU, LP).
- Familiarity with Encompass or similar LOS platforms.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
