PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)

PostgreSQL DBA - 70% | MongoDB DBA - 30%

Exp: 5 - 8 yrs

Location: Bangalore

We are looking for a skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL (70%) along with working knowledge of MongoDB (30%). This role involves managing mission-critical production databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security, while also contributing to automation and scripting initiatives.

Terraform : good to have

Ansible, Jenkins, Groovy(infrastructure automation with DevOps knowledge) : required

Coding basics(loop handling, exception handling etc.) : required

Cloud basic knowledge : required

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL.
• Manage production environments, ensuring system reliability and uptime.
• Perform and manage database backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Handle database upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues, optimize queries, and monitor database health.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams for database provisioning and release management.
• Automate DBA tasks using tools like Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for routine administrative tasks and automation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.
• Good working knowledge of MongoDB administration.
• Proficient in backup/restore, replication strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience with automation tools: Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform (preferred).
• Skilled in shell scripting (e.g., Bash, KornShell).
• Good understanding of Linux-based systems and database security best practices.
