As part of the API and Drug Substance Category team, the Senior Specialist/ Associate Director- Global supplier management, EXM to ensure compliant and cost competitive supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and Intermediates for Our Companys Animal Health Manufacturing division. Under the guidance of Director, API Category, the Senior Specialist/ Associate Director Global Procurement plays an important role in the development & execution of supplier management, sourcing strategies and acts in a category support role assisting the Director within the assigned set of suppliers responsible for overall supplier relationship management.

Our Supply Chain team ensures inventory is consistently available to meet customer demand. We coordinate all aspects of supply through supply planning, sourcing, making, inventory management, packaging and delivery. We partner across the Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing organizations to build a robust demand and supply plan and ensure we get products to the right customer, at the place, at the right time. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

People leadership:

Expected to co-lead with Sr. Sourcing Specialist and/or take lead on sourcing projects and influence peers, as appropriate, in the leadership of projects for example, cross-functional team members on a sourcing project team.

Sourcing Excellence:

  • Supports development, recommendation and implementation of sourcing strategies and ensures alignment, compliance and delivery of business requirements/needs.
  • As sourcing co-lead or lead, demonstrates excellence in executing sourcing management process and closely collaborates with Quality, Supply Chain, Technology and Compliance groups during each step of the process.
  • Role is expected to generate required analytical insights appropriate for category such as market trends, supplier profiles, EHS, performance management and develop annual buyer business plan for APIs as directed by the category leader / Director.
  • Is the leader of the Manufacturing cross-functional team (Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Ops, and others) who are responsible for delivering daily/weekly/monthly/annual requirements at their external partner(s).
  • Ensuring compliance Meeting Demand; Dispute resolution (w/ appropriate escalation); Production Planning; Materials Management. Continuous Improvement activities: Linking E2E (upstream and downstream) and with SCM (Supply Chain Management) to ensure and optimize flow of materials
  • Partners with ExM Quality, and ExM Technology on commercial aspects of relationship, including Identify, Select, Negotiate and Re-negotiate/terminate, as required.
  • Is accountable for maintaining the integrity of the MSA (Master Supply Agreement) ensuring alignment with the Supply and Quality agreements and appropriate document revision and distribution control and for ensuring contract terms agreed upon by

Manufacturing and the External Party are executed including purchase orders, forecasts, deliveries, and approving invoice payments.

  • Lead the external partner periodic Business and Operations Review Meetings.

Project Management:

  • Co-leads or leads sourcing projects (using an established sourcing management process) to establish sources of supply via market intelligence gathering and analysis, competitive sourcing events (RFIs, RFP/RFQs), costs analyses, strategic analyses, due diligence/compliance assessments, and contract negotiations. Provides commercial support during source change execution phase.

Proactive Cost Management:

  • Support development, negotiation, and implementation of cost savings projects and multi-year supply agreements.

Compliance and Risk Management: Responsible for compliance and risk management with assigned set of external supplier base.

Contract Negotiation and Management: Responsible to create detailed pre-negotiation plans, to lead and participate any prolonged negotiation sessions with suppliers and to conduct post negotiations debriefs and follow through plans.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Leads supplier relationship management in close collaboration with the business stakeholders (at same organizational level or one to two levels above and across manufacturing support functions such Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, Technology, Environmental Health and Safety, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal).
  • Travel expectations up to 25%.

Qualifications & Skills

Post graduate degree (Masters Degree or equivalent) preferably in Chemistry, Chemical engineering or Business fields, MBA with supply chain experience in Pharma industry.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Working Across Boundaries Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation skills to work outside boundaries as a norm
  • Business Outcomes /Drive Results Ability to use deep knowledge and expertise in production operations to drive results and business outcomes
  • End to End Mindset Ability to apply understanding of end-to-end supply chain within external and internal network and stakeholders across the network to achieve results and contribute supply chain optimization
  • Minimum Five to Seven (10-12 ) years of combined work experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, business operations and finance - within Human health or Animal health industry . Must have experience of working on API site, API Development and Project Management framework. Minimum 3 years experience in commercial /business and manufacturing preferred (operations, quality, technology, planning), roles required with a significant portion in management/leadership positions.
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different disciplines.
  • Sourcing experience within pharmaceutical industry (Direct Materials, API ) and familiarity with regulatory requirements (cGMPs). API Project Management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
