Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux, Storage, BigFix) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, administration, patching, day-to-day operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related data center infrastructure
Responsibilities
Plans, installs, solves problems, and maintains UNIX, BigFix infrastructure and associated systems
Plans, installs, solves problems and supports physical and virtual servers for the purpose of ensuring reliability of systems and services across a global estate
Analyses, identifies and corrects technology issues, resolving operational issues and restoring services
Documents procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems, software and hardware; develops and reviews documentation
Unix SME and POC for Tier1 support
Acts as a liaison to vendors and technical-support to resolve complex problems
Coordinates and implements corrective measures that may involve site visits, telephone assistance or remote management
Work on Infrastructure related projects
Advises and assists in the development of policies and procedures
Monitors and maintains software licensing, documents, and records for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policies and standards
Contributes to plans, implements and maintains backup and DR procedures to ensure rapid recovery for mission-critical systems, and services
Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned
Provide input to the Technology Roadmap when requested - assisting with research and design of new technology solutions where applicable
Proactively involve P1/P2 incident calls
Uphold for SLA compliance, incident management Root cause analysis
MUST HAVE advanced experience and knowledge of
Proficient in RHEL/Oracle Linux/CentOS OS administration
Ensuring availability and performance of the Linux system that supports the Business applications
Installation, configuration, and upgradation of Linux systems
Perform capacity planning, ensure high resiliency and optimal performance involving the associated hardware resources allocated to the operating system
Proficient in BigFix patching tool administration
Automate BAU tasks via shell scripting or tools, such as Ansible/BigFix
Maintain our Linux infrastructure standard operating environment, including configurations and security management
Experience with Shell/Perl/python scripting and other programming languages
Enterprise Intel x86 based hardware (eg Dell Servers), Cisco UCS
Experience with backup solutions (Commvault is preferred)
Networking skills - Knowledge and experience with DNS and TCP/IP
Strong problem-solving skills across the different Infrastructure layers
Able to work in team as well as an individual contributor with minimal supervision
Effective communication (both verbally on email) with global cross domain teams
Knowledge of the core hardware and software components that comprise large global systems and networks with expertise in some of the following areas
Configuration, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Storage systems (EMC/ Netapp/ Dell PVs etc.) and SAN switches (Brocade, Cisco)
Provisioning storage to AIX, UNIX, Windows and ESXi servers
Virtual infra administration - Build and administer ESXi cluster, VSAN and vCenters
LAN/WAN, network and systems hardware and software
DNS platforms
Monitoring and system management tools
Current and emerging operating systems, network environments and protocols
Data security, including Server Hardening
Project design and project tracking
Qualification
Degree holder with minimum 10+ years of experience
