Description: Incumbent will provide project leadership and technical direction to new machine development programs. Incumbent will use his/her technical expertise and work on a project team when required to manage program risk due to technical challenges and delays. Incumbent will liaison and collaborate with multiple product groups in earthmoving division by collaborating with engineering teams on potential design modifications for India-for-India product, market needs and achieve cost and quality targets. Ability to interact and collaborate with engineering teams of various earthmoving product groups across the globe - US, China, India Ability to assimilate technical knowledge of products and provide design solutions for low-cost products for India market. Incumbent needs to coach and facilitate the development of the work group to develop collaborative relationships among themselves, with customers, suppliers, other cross functional groups, and internal customers. Position requires excellent human relations, interpersonal, and communications skills. Ability to draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention. Ability to draw upon knowledge of more than one engineering function, technology, component, system, product, or process is required. This role requires that the incumbent increases understanding of product technology and process and the customers business and needs. To make decisions, this position will work with immediate work group or project team, division/business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and the market, typically impacting a single/multiple products, systems, processes, or the factory. Basic Qualifications / Experience: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant degree plus 13-15 years of previous experience working on engine integration and performance. Masters degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant degree plus 9-12 years of previous engine integration would be ideal for this position. Top Candidates will also have: Demonstrates very good communication skills. Vast knowledge on product, system, component design, product cost modelling, understanding 1E, international and local engineering standards and provide suitable solutions for manufacturability. A penchant for innovation, above average initiative, people development, and interpersonal skills. Project Management knowledge and demonstrated execution of complex projects across multiple workstreams. Working experience in 6 Sigma projects as Black Belt / Project Leader. Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar Inc.; its products and services; its internal systems, processes, and procedures; and a general understanding of Caterpillars external customers, competitors, and market influencers.
