About The Client Our Client is an Indian engineering and manufacturing company that specializes in auto components and systems, bicycles, metal formed products, and chains. It is based in Chennai and is one of India's leading Conglomerates . The Group has 29 businesses including ten listed Companies traded in NSE & BSE. Headquartered in Chennai. Role: Database Architect Responsibilities Database Design and Modelling: Design and develop efficient and scalable database models based on business requirements. Utilize industry best practices for normalization, indexing, and data integrity to ensure optimal performance. Data Architecture: Define the overall structure of the organization's data, including databases, tables, views, and relationships. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and design solutions that support current and future business requirements. Database Management Systems (DBMS): Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate database management systems. (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) based on project requirements. Stay updated on the latest advancements in database technologies. Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization. Work closely with developers to troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions. Data Security: Implement and enforce data security policies and access controls. Design databases with a focus on data protection, encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data. Test and document disaster recovery procedures. Data Migration and Integration: Plan and execute data migration projects, ensuring smooth transitions between different database systems or versions. Integrate databases with other systems and applications. Scalability: Design databases that can scale to meet growing data needs. Evaluate and implement strategies for horizontal and vertical scaling based on business requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to understand system requirements and ensure seamless integration between databases and applications. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, schema diagrams, and database architecture documentation. Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders. Capacity Planning: Forecast future database capacity requirements based on business growth and usage patterns. Plan and implement strategies to address increased data volumes. Qualifications Bachelors/masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven 10+ years" experience as a Database Architect or in a similar role. Expertise in database design principles, normalization, and data modelling. Proficiency in SQL programming and experience with one or more DBMS (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server). Strong understanding of data security and compliance standards. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Experience with cloud-based databases and distributed database architectures is a plus.
