Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation and maintenance of Energy Management Systems (EMS) for electrical utilities, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
- Manage and configure advanced EMS functionalities such as State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Power Flow Analysis, Optimal Power Flow, Automatic Generation Control (AGC), Reserve Management (RM), Volt Var Control (VVC), Hydro thermal coordination (HTC), Scheduling etc.
- Collaborate with utility teams to integrate EMS with SCADA, generation management systems, and other utility platforms.
- Analyze and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including system configurations, user guides, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices for EMS operations.
- Proactively identify opportunities for system upgrades and enhancements to improve performance and scalability.
- Conduct technical training sessions and workshops to share knowledge and build team capacity.
- Travel overseas for extended durations as required, working onsite at customer locations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- 10 to 12 years of experience in EMS implementation and maintenance within the electrical utility domain.
- Strong understanding of the power utility business, with expertise in transmission and distribution operations.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Perl, and Shell scripting.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, with administrative skills being an added advantage.
- Familiarity with RDBMS platforms like Oracle for database management.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to manage complex projects independently.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with customers.
- Willingness to travel overseas for extended durations and work at customer locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with leading EMS platforms such as Siemens Spectrum Power, ABB Network Manager, GE Grid Solutions, E Terra etc.
- Familiarity with industry standards like IEC 61970, IEC 61850, and CIM.
- Exposure to cybersecurity best practices for utility systems.
