Job Description
Core Skills & Knowledge:
Unix/Linux Expertise:
Deep understanding of the Unix/Linux operating system, including system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Scripting & Automation:
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl) for automating tasks, deployments, and migrations.
Legacy Application Knowledge:
Familiarity with common legacy application architectures, technologies, and challenges.
Migration Strategies:
Understanding of different migration approaches (e.g., rehosting, refactoring, replatforming) and their suitability for various scenarios.
Cloud Platforms (Optional but beneficial):
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services, especially for cloud migration projects.
Networking:
Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
Databases:
Familiarity with common database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and their migration processes.
Version Control:
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing code and configurations.
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues during migration projects.
Experience:
Migration Projects:
Experience leading or participating in application migration projects, preferably with legacy systems.
Independent Work:
Ability to work independently, manage projects, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Communication & Collaboration:
Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with other teams.
