Medicinal chemists might lead a research project in which they coordinate the efforts of a multidisciplinary team, including areas such as biology, computer-aided design, franchise management and process-research chemistry. In addition to conducting chemical research, medicinal chemists work to develop guidelines to make sure new drugs are safe.
