JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of theProject Director, theSenior Learning Excellence Managershall be responsible for drivingRTT'steaching and learning excellence and education leadership excellence in the project district and to improve the ability of school support functionaries at district and block level to support continuous improvement in schools.

TheSenior LEMwill be the voice ofRTT'sTeaching & Learning and leadership at project locations and other forums as required. S/he will lead in driving a consistent understanding and practice of high-quality teaching and learning and leadership by BRCCs, TPEOs, BRPs (Pragna), Head Teachers (HTs), Government Teachers (GTs), Learning Excellence Manager (LEM) and Teaching & Learning Facilitators (TLFs).

The incumbent will also lead in building up an education team with knowledge, skills and expertise in teaching learning and leadership at project level. TheSenior LEMwill deliver two teaching and learning and leadership sessions to BRCs, BRPs, TPEOs and DPEOs each year to improve their understanding of good teaching and learning. Wherever possible they will support BRCs with the diffusion of this teaching and learning and leadership message to CRCs through their regular meetings.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(A) Drive Teaching and Learning (T&L) and Leadership Excellence-
(1) Drive T&L and leadership excellence in the project and consistently demonstrateRTT's approach to teaching, learning and leadership;
(2) Oversee the quality and consistency of T&L and leadership as per the SOPs and blueprints;
(3) Drive continuous improvement in the quality of T&L and leadership across project schools by using knowledge, skills and expertise to engage with senior stakeholders;
(4) Visit project schools regularly and carry out joint observations with LEMs/TLFs on teaching, learning and leadership practices and discuss training needs with T&L Lead to align on understanding;
(5) Contribute to the professional development of LEMs, TLFs, CRCs, HTs and GTs based on theRTT'sapproach and feedback from HT/GT conversations, interactions with Govt education officials (BRCs, BRPs TPEOs, & CRCs) and observations from school visits;
(6) Ensure all the internal and external stakeholders understand and are aligned toRTTeducation approach;
(7) Be the T&L and leadership spokesperson at various forums and during discussions with key stakeholders from Govt. and outside.

(B) Training Support-
(1) Lead on identification of training needs of CRCs, HTs, GTs, TLFs and LEMs and share withRTTProject Director and Teaching & Learning Lead;
(2) Support the delivery of internal and external training programs including running sessions as agreed withRTTProject Director and Teaching & Learning Lead;
(3) Provide regular reports and feedback to line managers on the quality of teaching, learning and leadership interventions.

(C) Team Management and Professional Development Support-
(1) Be responsible for the effective line management of LEMs;
(2) Be responsible for the professional development of Teaching and Learning Facilitators (TLFs) and Learning Excellence Manager (LEMs) through regular sessions on core T&L and leadership approaches and in areas identified through feedback/coaching conversations;
(3) Assess, analyze and share training and development needs for School LEMs, TLFs, GTs, HTs and CRCs with the T&L Lead and Director of T&L;
(4) Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and conduct, role modellingRTTvalues and behaviours;
(5) Support the LEMs in plan-do-review cycle for the quality of teaching, learning and leadership identified by theRTTprogrammes;
(6) Guide the LEMs in analysis of key education data and reports coming from TLFs and gather insights.

(D) Stakeholder Management-
(1) Under the guidance ofRTTProject Director, ensure buy-in of BRCCs, TPEOs, BRPs for all education interventions before they are rolled out and regularly update BRCCs, TPEOs, BRPs of progress and changes on performance milestones and issues;
(2) Deliver training sessions and regular communication with key government stakeholders as required to ensure clear and consistent understanding on T&L and leadership;
(3) Be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with key government officials involved in theSCOPE programat both district and block levels;
(4) Attend Govt meetings and training related to education to gain and share knowledge and experience;
(5) Shadow visits/joint project school visit with Govt stakeholders to showcase our work.

(E) Professionalism and Living the Values-

(4) Working collaboratively with the Community and Education teams to ensure effective alignment, problem resolution and stakeholder management;
(5) Establishing and maintaining a safe, well organized learning environment rooted in mutual respect;
(6) Consistently demonstrating and deploying effective coaching skills and strategies;
(7) Building strong relationships with colleagues, including BRCs, BRPs, TPEO and DPEO;
(8) Communicating understanding of the project and aims clearly to all stakeholders;
(9) Upholding the standards expected of stakeholders and ensure their behaviour does not bring the profession of project into disrepute;
(10) Communicating effectively withReach to Teachstaff and wider audiences about the successes and challenges within the project and sharing evaluations and insights.

(F) Safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment for children-
(1) Ensuring child protection and safeguarding issues that arise are identified and reported promptly in line withReach to Teachsafeguarding policies;

COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

LOCATION:Bhuj, Gujarat

APPOINTMENT:This is a full-time position. The initial contract offered shall be till March 2022 and renewable thereafter based on performance.

Required Candidate profile

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

(1) Applicants must be a Qualified primary school teacher (PTC or BEd) or M.A. in Education;
(2) Any other professional education qualification (including Teaching Fellowships) with a Post Graduate degree in any field.

Experience:

(1) Minimum 10 years teaching experience with at least three years leadership experience;
(2) Experience of working with district or block level school support functionaries on the key areas of school improvement.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Experience of supporting colleagues / teachers to improve their teaching and learning practice, including coaching and mentoring;
(2) Experience of supporting teachers to improve their practice;

(3) Understanding of the principles and practices of behaviour change in the school and classroom context;
(4) Experience of using a range of teaching strategies to promote progress for all;

(5) Proven track record of improving learning outcomes for pupils;
(6) Understanding of how children learn;
(7) Willingness to learn and embrace appropriate change.

(8) Willingness to engage with parents and members of the community to enhance learning and improve attendance;
(9) Excellent knowledge of teaching and learning.

(10) Understanding the role of education leadership in improving learning outcomes;
(11) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
(12) Ability to communicate in English and Hindi.

(13) Self-motivated, and happy to work unsupervised using own initiative;
(14) Ability to influence people.
