Experience Range : 5 -8 years
Designation : Subject Matter Expert/Associate Team Lead
Nature of work : Medical Coding
Team : Coding Process
Shift : Day Shift (IST 9 am-6 pm)
Salary Range : 60K - 80k CTC
Education qualification : Any Life Science, Paramedical, Medical Graduates and Post Graduates (Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Biotechnology, Biology, Bio-Medical graduates, Zoology, Botany, Bioinformatics, Genetics, B.O.T, Microbiology, Biochemistry ,Endocrinology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Anatomy, Physiology , Chemistry, Medical Lab Technology, Health Education, M.B.B.S, B.D.S, B.H.M.S, B.A.M.S, etc.). Candidates with Non Life science graduation with coding certification or coding experience are also eligible.
Job Description:
- Strong knowledge of coding domains - Coding EM from IP & OP services, Orthopedic Surgery, Radiology, supplies/DME, Injections, Physical therapy & Denial Management.
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPTs .
- Thoroughly reviews all documentation in the medical record and assigns codes for all diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to the appropriate classification system for outpatient encounters.
- Able to accurately abstract information from the medical records according to CPT & CMS guidelines.
- Able to identify medical necessity deficiencies in the medical documentation at the time of assigning ICDs & CPTs and escalating back to the Client / Doctors.
- Able to code ASC, Office based orthopedic surgeries such as Fracture care, spine procedures, injections, join replacements, Toe and finger surgeries.
- Able to meet the production target with 100% quality standards in compliance with CMS/CPT/AAOS guidelines.
- Able to identify the documentation deficiencies, provide education to providers in compliance with the standard guidelines.
- Able to work on denials, provide solutions, support for appeal and payer audit processes.
Skill Sets:
- Certified Orthopaedic Surgery Coder (COSC), Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center Coder (CASCC), Certified General Surgery Coder (CGSC), CPC, CPCD, CCS preferred. Candidates with good knowledge in Anatomy/physiology.
- HIPAA compliant and compliant with all Industry policies and procedures.
- Take ownership of daily tasks of the coding team and mentoring the new coders.
- Be a subject matter expert to guide the team for accurate coding in areas of CMS rules, NCCI, MUE, global surgery rules, cosmetic/medical procedures.
- Hands on experience on Rejections and denials of orthopedic specialty.
- Coordinating with the teammates on process related issues and updates.
- Identify and participate in training / developmental programs.
- Appreciates the inter-dependencies between teams/functions.
