The Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis Organisation is a team of >1,000 colleagues providing accurate, timely and insightful analysis to deliver more and cleaner energy solutions.

Within the Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis Organisation, there is a team responsible for Mobility Regional/ Cluster PAR. This role reports into the PAR Manager, Mobility EUSA Region and is directly responsible for supporting the DACH B2C Mobility organisation, working closely with the GM, Mobility FM and the wider Mobility organisation for the cluster. DACH is a cluster of 3 countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Whats the role?

The Senior Analyst, Mobility is responsible for supporting the delivery of Performance & Appraisal reporting to the DACH Mobility organization. This role holder will help the organisation plan and manage their spend for maximum return.

The role holder will consider economic and business trends, review past company performance, and attempt to anticipate obstacles and potential problems, all with an eye toward forecasting the business future financial results and supporting delivery of its ultimate potential as the teams deploy and manage the capital investment programme on behalf of the Mobility business, focusing on the expansion & optimization of Mobility sites across the world.

The key stakeholders for the Analyst are the FM Mobility, Pricing Manager, Sales Manager, Convenience Retail (CR) business lead, CR category managers, Pricing analyst, Billing teams and relevant R&A stake holders including Regional PAR leads with whom they will partner closely to deliver the following:

  • The annual or other strategic plans for the Business and relevant constituent parts, including Cash & Finance CAPEX related support.
  • Development of all material for quarterly or other scheduled appraisal of performance, including inputs to the Regional teams.
  • Preparation of financial forecasts
  • Management information
  • Business Decision Support/Economic Analysis
  • Working closely with the Controllers Teams to ensure seamless flow of information on the business activities ensuring accurate and timely accounting entries for financial and management information purposes.
  • The Analyst will work closely with the PAR Lead to ensure alignment of activities and execution of standard PAR processes.

This role specifically requires understanding the DACH energy business and working closely with senior stake holder like Pricing managers, CR manager and country sales manager to provide them financial advices and key indicators for performance, support on business cases / IP , strong support to the local pricing team to work the latest estimate and ensure full potential of the business is reflected correctly in the LE and maintain LE accuracy, provide monthly financials to pricing team and CR team, work with various CR category managers and provide commentaries on key categories performance and any new business models. Role requires strong stake holder management and articulation skills.

Mobility DACH B2C business is a fast-growing energy solutions provider and is highly competitive business compared with its external market or even within the regional scope. Mobility DACH B2C business operates at an overall C5 margin of ~$560m, with yearly sales volume of 6 Billion liters and CR margin of ~$270m with healthy cash surplus.

Special Challenges

  • The candidate needs exceptional communication and influencing skills to be able to build effective working relationships with Business Partners/Finance manager, especially in a virtual environment, and leverage that relationship to ensure the MI complies with reporting requirements in the face of such pressures.
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate business acumen.
  • Demand Management of MI including competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Candidate needs to proactively identify what systems, processes and structures are required based on the Business input and develop the MI requirements

What we need from you?

The role holder should possess:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree or Professional Qualification (CA/ICWA/CIMA/ACCA/MBA), in Accounting/Finance with exceptional numeracy skills and having at least 2 years of relevant experience in Reporting and analysis.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and be willing to work with ambiguous data.
  • Interest to develop deep understanding of Marketing Financial and Management Information Systems (GSAP, BW, GPMR) and Data Flows as well as a passion for leveraging technology to automate MI and increasingly build data-driven plans & forecasts.
  • Experience in ERP systems (especially GSAP R3, BW and GPMR) and business intelligence tools like Spotfire, BI4, etc. is preferred
  • Proactive approach and the ability to identify and support resolving First Time right issues (e.g.: accounting & reporting issues, MRD issues) in a dynamic environment
  • Drive development/design of new MI and Finance support processes, Continuous focus on improvement opportunities (ESSA), identifying actions to reduce complexity and promote best practice.
  • Passion for the Mobility business, The Energy Transition and a curiosity for how the business delivers value.
