Job Description
Qualification - GNM/Bsc Nursing
Experience - 0 - 10 yrs
General responsibilities for all Registered Nurse
Handing and taking over patients, drugs and details report at every shift change.
Go for rounds with consultants, note down and implement instructions.
Render total effective nursing care.
To plan for the nursing care critically ill patients.
Rising of various requisitions related to treatment and other nursing procedures.
Administration of oral drugs, intravenous, intramuscular injections.
Bedside Nursing care for very ill patients, orthopedic and Neuro patients.
Taking care of all equipments like Ventilator, Defibrillator, and Humidifier, Cardiac monitor, Infusion pumps, Oxygen, Flow meters and vacuum suction is functioning properly.
Coordinate with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges of patients and billing activities.
To identify notifiable disease and inform to the medical record department.
Coordinate with Food Services and dietary departments for patient diets.
Administration of Intra Venous (I.V) therapy.
Setting up care for central line special procedures trays, dressing trolleys to assist the doctors.
Preparation of patients for minor, major and emergency surgeries.
To check Blood Pressure (BP) apparatus larynges scope and torch light.
To check the blood gas depending on the stability of the patient for extubation.
To take care of patient with continuous bladder drainage.
To take care of Tracheotomy patients.
Responsible for the disposal of biomedical waste.
To follow hand washing technique.
To ensure safety precaution of the patients.
To check the cleanliness of the unit
To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives
To be aware of departments performance and objective.
To carryout data collection/support in data collection.
To adhere the safety norms of hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules.
To perform any Job / task as and when by the superior.
To follow strict isolation techniques
To coordinate with other departmental activities and that should be related to the health care services of the patient.
Emergency Staff Nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
To take care of Tracheotomy patients.
Responsible for the disposal of biomedical waste.
To be aware of MLC procedures, ambulance services and various procedures done in Emergency.
To have knowledge on triaging the patient.
To be ready to manage disaster.
To participate in the vaccination programmes and health camps conducted by our hospital.
To maintain documents legibly
ICU Staff (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
Maintenance of medical and nursing records related to daily routine work for patients.
Administration of Intra Venous (I.V.) therapy/ Parental therapy etc.
To assist the procedures done by a doctors.
To prevent and control the hospital associated infection.
To maintain the isolation techniques for all the patients.
To take care of the sterilization activities and to have adequate sterile dressing materials and instruments.
NICU Staff Nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
Maintenance of medical and nursing records related to daily routine work for babies.
Administration of Intravenous (I.V.) therapy and other procedures related to patients
To assist the consultant for the exchange blood transfusion.
To take care of babies with /without continuous bladder drainage.
To prevent and control the hospital associated infection.
To maintain the isolation techniques for all the Babies.
To encourage the mothers to give breast feed and to follow special techniques in the preparation of formulated feeds.
To follow the vaccination schedule.
To take care of the sterilization activities and to have adequate sterile dressing materials and instruments.
To ensure safety precaution of the babies and mother.
OT Staff nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
To check the assignment in Operation Theatre booking register.
To ensure the carbolisation of OT is done before shifting every case.
Assisting for surgery by collecting the instruments, Linen, Patient Materials to be ready for any emergencies.
To assist the scrub Nurse during the procedure, settle Patient Material requisition (PMR) and handover the remaining materials to the OT store.
To count sponges and maintain a register and to inform the concerned surgeon in case sponges are missing and to ensure that the wound is not closed until they are found.
To check the consent form and pre Out Patient check list and with all necessary documents needed for the surgery before receiving the patient in OT.
To receive the patient half an hour prior to the surgery.
To ensure right patient by calling Him / Her with their name.
To ensure the surgery site with the surgeon and with the patient
To check with the surgeon the necessary equipments and instruments needed for the surgery.
To wash and pack the instrument for autoclave after the surgery.
To arrange blood by filling requisition form and send it to the Blood Bank for the required patient.
To ensure the cleanliness and sterility of the theatre.
To shift the patient along with their case sheet, appropriate reports and specimens and handover patient to the Ward Nurse.
To segregate the things and fumigate the OT according to the protocol, incase of infected cases are taken.
CTOT Staff Nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
To assist in all Cardiac and Neuro cases.
To supervise the theatre and all staffs work.
To take care of all the instruments and capital items.
To get the things ready for next case.
To carbonize OT (Operation Theatre) table, lights and instrument trolley.
To receive the patient half an hour before the surgery.
To check the appropriate consent forms pre OP (Out Patient) check list and all other necessary documents needed for the posted surgery.
To ensure the patient received is right by calling the patient name.
To check the stock things. Suture materials, linen bundle and instruments trays.
To ensure if the previous day PMR (Patient Medical Requisition) has been received or not.
To count Sponges, gauge pieces and instruments and register the same.
To clean the instruments after the case and to pack the same for autoclaving.
CTICU Staff Nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsibilities)
To inform notifiable disease to the medical record department.
Maintenance of medical and nursing records related to daily routine work for patients.
To prevent the development of bed store as per policy.
To assist the procedures done by a doctors.
To prevent and control the hospital associated infection.
To maintain the isolation techniques for all the patients.
To take care of the sterilization activities and to have adequate sterile dressing materials and instruments.
Cath Lab Staff nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsibilities)
To be responsible for the registration of the patient.
To check the availability of blood investigation reports.
To explain the procedure to the patient.
To start Intra Venous (IV) line and give pre medication to the patient.
To set the table, sterile trolley with medicines, linen and instruments.
To assist the doctor during the procedure.
To be responsible for the stock of medicines used during the procedures.
Instruct the patient about Dos and Donts
To take care of the medication before, during and after the procedures
To prepare the Patient Material Requisition (PMR) for the materials used according to the procedure per patient.
Packing the instruments and send it to Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).
To call the patient for the procedure according to the proposed list and availability of lab.
To participate and contribute to department quality initiatives.
To be aware of department performance and objectives.
To carryout data collection / Support in data collection.
To adhere to the safety norms of hospital and to follow both patient / staff safety.
To perform any job / task assigned by the superiors.
