Job Summary:
We are looking for a Junior Chemist to join our Transformer Oil Testing Lab in Sampla. The
candidate will be responsible for performing quality tests on transformer oils to ensure
compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong
analytical skills, knowledge of laboratory instruments, and attention to detail to support
accurate testing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transformer Oil Testing & Analysis:
Conduct various physical, chemical, and electrical tests on transformer oil, including:
Dielectric Breakdown Voltage (BDV)
Moisture Content (Karl Fischer Titration)
Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA)
Acidity and Neutralization Value
Interfacial Tension
Specific Resistance and Tan Delta Test
Furan Analysis for paper insulation degradation
Ensure all tests are conducted as per IEC, ASTM, IS, and IEEE standards.
2. Laboratory Operations & Instrument Handling:
Operate and calibrate laboratory instruments such as:
Karl Fischer Titrator
Gas Chromatograph (for DGA)
BDV Testing Kit
FTIR Spectrometer
Viscometers and Tensiometers
Maintain proper lab documentation, logs, and reports in compliance with ISO/IEC
17025 standards.
Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ensure workplace safety.
3. Data Interpretation & Reporting:
Analyze test results and compare them with standard limits.
Identify any deviations and assist in troubleshooting oil contamination or
degradation issues.
Prepare detailed test reports for clients and regulatory submissions.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with national and international testing standards.
Participate in laboratory audits and proficiency testing programs.
Assist in maintaining lab quality management systems (QMS).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry preferred).
0-2 years of experience in a testing laboratory (freshers with relevant knowledge can
apply).
Strong understanding of transformer oil properties and testing methodologies.
Experience with analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatography, Karl Fischer
Titration, and BDV Test Kits is an advantage.
Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in petroleum, lubricants, or transformer oil testing.
Exposure to ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation process.
Knowledge of oil filtration and regeneration techniques.
