About the Job As a Principal Engineer Mechatronics Systems, you will lead the design and development of integrated mechatronic systems for state-of-the-art general-purpose robots. These robots are designed to operate in human spaces, work alongside humans, mobilize to human environments, and manipulate the world around them. This position reports to the Director of Mechatronics at Jio Humanoid Robotics. What Youll Be Doing System Design: Lead the design and development of integrated mechatronic systems, including actuators, sensors, control systems, and mechanical structures. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of all system components. Innovation: Drive research and development initiatives to explore new technologies, materials, and methods that enhance the performance and capabilities of robotic systems. Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping process and conduct rigorous testing to validate designs, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance under various conditions. Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and test reports, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery while meeting quality and budgetary constraints. What We Need To See Qualifications and Experience Required: Masters degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 15+ years of experience in mechatronics or related fields, with a proven track record in robotics or automation. Skills & Competencies Required Strong understanding of mechatronics systems. Understanding of robotic control systems (e.g., motion control, sensor control). Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and simulation tools. Experience with C/C++, Python programming languages. Expertise in kinematics and dynamics. Mechanical design and analysis skills. Knowledge of material science and manufacturing processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Continuous improvement and innovation mindset. Strong understanding of product development lifecycle. Expertise in conducting design reviews and providing feedback. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Preferred Knowledge of MATLAB.
