KEY ROLE :
1. Responsible for Power System operation. Achieving highest reliability of power system in addition to meet with required parameters & quality.
2. Responsible for power distribution and clearance to down stream units / sub stations.
3. Responsible for safe start up and shut down of equipment
4. Responsible for handling Power system emergencies.
FUNCTIONS :
1. To work on EHV Electrical power system like 220kV GIS, 33kV GIS, EHV transformers along with NIFPS.
2. To operate the power system with highest reliability.
3. To observe trends of important parameters & to take corrective actions for the deviations to maintain the quality & reliability.
4. To maintain record, log books for the jobs carried out.
5. To record power system parameters on regular basis & maintain records.
6. To maintain good housekeeping in his area.
7. To ensure minimum downtime of power system & all electrical equipments.
8. To maintain record of bypass of trip and interlocks as per procedures.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
1. Power distribution system of the complete plant along with single line diagram.
2. Experience in operation of high voltage air insulated, or gas insulated switchgears, operation and maintenance, troubleshooting and/or testing and commissioning
experience in the HV substation, working of EHV switchgears (220kV/33kV) GIS, Power Transformers, EHV Cables etc.
3. Downstream plants power consumption pattern along with location of specific Load Centers.
4. Electrical operation of the power system including Transformer & GIS energization, synchronization with other Power entity, shut down & isolation.
5. Emergencies in plant arising out of tripping / failure of equipments / systems including load shedding & fire.
6. Power distribution plan to downstream plants & execution of the same.
7. Alarm, trip points & circuit interlocks testing procedures.
8. Protection relay functions, their settings, data viewing & checking procedures.
9. Electrical SOP of equipments pertaining to start up, shutdown, change over & isolation.
10. SCADA system, its different functions & network configuration, controller description.
11. Basic knowledge of SCADA & their in built logics such as OLTC operation etc required for operation.
12. Control & Protection logic of GIS & Transformers.
13. Circuit diagram of various control circuits.
14. All electrical equipment in service including all types of drives, dc machines, power & distribution transformers, instrument transformers, HT / LT panel, various circuit breakers & isolators, UPS, battery chargers & battery system, variable speed drive units, cathodic protection, control, process- instrumentation interlock & protection of all above equipment.
15. Testing / trouble shooting / maintenance of the above electrical equipment.
16. Emergency power system operation.
17. Logic / circuit diagrams, trouble shooting & failure analysis.
18. Cable, joints and termination.
19. Statutory bodies, rules viz. Indian electricity rules.
20. Electrical equipment for hazardous areas.
21. Coordination during switchgear shutdown
22. MOC/FCO/PCO procedure.
CROSS FUNCTIONAL
1. Control supply (UPS, DC, AC and other specific) to instrument system like F&G, HVAC etc.
2. To trouble shoot signal interface between instrument systems and electrical system.
3. Participate in loop testing / checking.
4. Critical equipment and their impact on the system.
5. Understand interlocks & protection systems from process side.
6. UPS distribution, effect of UPS failure on inst. & process
