As the backbone of legacy IT systems, mainframe storage must be resilient, secure, and high-performing. The role includes supporting data integrity, optimizing storage usage, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address storage-related issues. With the increasing volume of data processed by enterprises today, having a dedicated expert in mainframe storage is crucial for minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operational processes. This position requires a strong technical background combined with problem-solving abilities to resolve issues quickly and effectively. The ideal candidate will proactively identify areas for improvement and implement strategies that enhance performance and reliability while also providing excellent service to internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Monitor and maintain mainframe storage systems to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues in a timely manner. Implement backup and recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity. Perform routine audits of storage systems to assess performance and capacity. Coordinate with other IT teams to support application data requirements. Participate in capacity planning and forecasting for future storage needs. Document technical procedures and storage configurations. Evaluate and recommend new storage technologies and solutions. Manage data archiving and purging processes to optimize storage usage. Assist in the development of storage standards and best practices. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Collaborate with vendors regarding storage solutions and support issues. Provide training and guidance to team members on storage systems. Respond to emergency situations and perform repairs as necessary. Prepare regular reports on storage performance and capacity metrics. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in mainframe storage support. Proficiency with mainframe storage management tools and technologies. Understanding of data backup and recovery processes. Experience with various storage protocols and architectures. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Familiarity with performance tuning and capacity planning. Experience with disaster recovery strategies and implementations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of security standards and best practices for data protection. Experience in technical documentation and reporting. Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Certifications in mainframe technologies are a plus. Willingness to participate in on-call support rotation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
